About Us
Dirty Whistle is a fantasy football game built around a simple but uncomfortable premise: what if, instead of cheering from the stands, you ran the show — as a corrupt referee being offered bribes match by match? Predict goal differences. Take the offer. Don't get arrested.
Why we made it
Most fantasy games reward optimism — you pick the goal-scorers, you root for them, points roll in. We wanted a game that rewards cynicism, mischief, and a real sense of risk. The arrest mechanic isn't a gimmick. Lose your run on one greedy call and you spend the rest of the World Cup watching everyone else play. That asymmetry is the point.
It's also a love letter to the long history of football corruption scandals — Calciopoli, the 1982 ghost match, every "mysterious refereeing decision" you've seen and yelled at. We're not celebrating it. We're making it playable, in a way that doesn't touch real money or real people.
What this is not
- Not gambling. No real-money wagering. All in-game currency is virtual and has no cash value. You can't deposit, can't withdraw, can't trade with other players.
- Not affiliated with FIFA, UEFA, or any football body. We use real fixtures because the World Cup happens in public. We do not represent or endorse any institution.
- Not an actual investigation tool. Anything that looks like a real-world accusation against a real referee is coincidental and unintended.
Who we are
Dirty Whistle is a private, non-commercial fan project operated by a team of individuals — football fans and engineers who'd rather build a game than write another column about VAR. We launched for the 2026 World Cup and we have plans for Euro 2028 and Copa América if you keep playing.
